Abstract

Women entrepreneurs face many barriers in carrying out their entrepreneurship process in developing countries. These barriers are associated with low financial inclusion, and specific norms and cultures that define women’s roles in society. The results of our study show that the programmes implemented to support women entrepreneurs are mainly focused on promoting entrepreneurship, rather than addressing the causes of the gender gap in entrepreneurial success.
