Governance refers to all the measures and rules that ensure the proper functioning and control of a state, an institution or an organization. It aims to make public action more effective, closer to public and general interests, and therefore more legitimate. It should make society easier or more harmonious to govern. Therefore, local development companies (LDCs) represent a new development model with the aim of freeing public performance. They are set up as limited companies, on the initiative of local authorities, to carry out economic activities that fall within the jurisdiction of the district. Thus, the LDCs are intended to improve urban governance. Our paper will seek to show the role of LDCs in public sector governance and in local development in Casablanca, in Morocco.
