Besoins et présence des travailleuses et travailleurs migrants temporaires dans les régions du Québec : quelques éléments de description

Abstract

With the labour shortage, many employers and employer associations are calling for the recruitment of more temporary migrant workers (TMT) in various Quebec’s sectors of activity. This demand is not new. However, the various programs, the needs expressed by employers and the problems encountered by TMTs remain largely unknown to the public. This contribution presents the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and its various components, an overview of the labour needs expressed by employers and a discussion of the precariousness of TMTs. Finally, the text suggests some criticisms of the socio-economic and socio-legal conditions of TMTs in Canada.
