Les néoruraux en cavale vers la campagne : quelles conséquences pour le Québec?

Abstract

The migration to rural areas of urban populations, whom we call neo-rurals, occurs across Quebec in regions next to large and medium-sized urban centres of the Laurentian valley and elsewhere in the province. This article discusses their profile and the motivations driving their migration. It explores the multifaceted consequences of their settling in rural areas, all the while proposing certain courses of action to meet the underlying challenges of the neo-rurality phenomenon.
